Vinitaly
wine fair in Verona
In April of 2003, Villa Branca participated in its first Vinitaly
fair with a 16 sq.m. stand in the Tuscany Pavilion, surrounded
by many internationally famous wineries of the area. The tasteful
stand in yellow and bordeaux, designed by Countess Ilaria Branca,
called the attention of many Italian and foreign visitors.
Villa Branca Chianti Classico 2001 and Villa Branca Chianti
Classico Riserva 2000 were presented and received rave reviews
for their freshness, elegance and roundness. They are Tuscan
wines with a touch of international flavor.
The Extra Virgin Olive oil D.O.P. was also a protagonist of
Vinitaly and received official recognition when it was classified
as one of the top 20 extra virgin oils in Italy. Villa Branca’s
participation in the Verona fair was fundamental for opening
the door to the national and international high-end market.
Abroad: Villa Branca, in collaboration with the Consortium
of Chianti Classico, has participated in many international
events in cities such as: Amsterdam, Zurich, Geneva, Wiesbaden,
Hamburg and Munich. The first three events, which included
about 20 wineries from the Chianti Classico region, began with
a press conference on the importance of women in the production
of Chianti and was followed by a wine tasting for the benefit
of importers, wine store owners, restaurateurs and journalists.
Ilaria Branca, along with other women producers, recounted
their experiences in the wine world. These interesting life
stories tell of the passion that binds these women to the land
and to the growth and maturity of its vines.
-Another wine tasting event of note took place in February
2003 in Florence in the beautiful painting gallery of the Certosa
monastery, famous for its frescos by Pontormo. It was organized
by the Consortium and hosted about 150 local and international
journalists.
Wine
and Roses- Villa Branca hosted a book presentation on the
history of the rose, written by Inna Dufour Nannelli and
introduced by Dr. Carlo Sisi, director of the Modern Art
Gallery in Palazzo Pitti in Florence.
For over 2,000 years the rose has been present in literature,
art, and the romantic imagination of every populace and country.
The book investigates the lesser-known aspects of this flower,
curiosities, and its most unique uses: from embroidery to
perfume, poetry, and painting, to the curious custom of planting
a rose plant at the beginning of each row in a vineyard.
The event was lovingly organized by Countess Gloria Branca
and her daughter Ilaria, and took place at sundown on a sweet
evening in May.
